What leaves your phone
A keyboard sits between you and everything you write, so it should be clear about what it does. This page describes what the OnKey app does, as built.
Short version. What you write leaves your phone only when you tap an AI action, and only the text for that action. Nothing is sent passively as you type. Usage analytics and crash reports never include your text.
When you tap an AI action
You choose the text and the action. Fix, Tone, Reply, Translate, Summarize, or a preset.
That text is sent over a secured connection. It goes to our proxy, and from there to the AI model that writes the result. The app pins the connection to our server's public key.
The result comes back. Responses are marked no-store. Nothing replaces your text until you tap Insert.
What stays on your phone
The clipboard
The keyboard only checks whether the clipboard holds text. It does not read what is in it until you tap paste.
The activity log
The Privacy Dashboard in the app lists your recent actions. Each entry records the action, a character count and the model name, never your text. It holds at most 50 entries and each is removed after 24 hours.
Rewrite history
Off by default. It is only kept if you switch it on, and only for results you asked for.
Voice recordings
Speech is transcribed on your device. Audio never leaves your phone.
Debug logs
Diagnostic logging is compiled out of the App Store build, so nothing a developer would print can reach it.
Why Full Access
Full Access lets the keyboard reach the internet, which AI actions need. Without it, typing still works and the keyboard tells you that AI actions are off. iOS shows the same standard warning for every keyboard that asks for it: that a keyboard with Full Access could send what you type. The list above is what OnKey does with it. iOS also keeps custom keyboards out of password fields. How to turn on Full Access.
Tracking and analytics
The keyboard extension declares no tracking and no collected data types in its privacy manifest. The app does record product analytics and crash reports. Analytics events are counts, flags and timestamps, not your text, keystrokes or clipboard.
What this page cannot tell you
Once your text reaches the AI model provider, how that provider handles it is outside what the app can show. This page only describes what the app itself does. The details are in the privacy policy.

Questions
Does OnKey see what I type?
iOS gives every keyboard the characters you type, because that is how a keyboard works. OnKey does not send them anywhere unless you tap an AI action on text you chose.
Can I use OnKey without Full Access?
Yes, for typing. The AI actions need Full Access to reach the internet, and the keyboard says so.
Does OnKey see my passwords?
No. iOS never lets any custom keyboard see password fields.
Is my voice recording sent anywhere?
No. Voice to text transcribes on your device. Only the transcript text goes to the AI, and only if you tap Polish with AI or Summarize.
